2006 Pax Syrah Richards Family Vineyard

The 2006 Syrah Richards Family Vineyard is made with 100% whole clusters, is likely to spend nearly 36 months in barrel and in 100% new oak. It may turn out to be a perfect Syrah, it’s that sexy, rich, and promising already. It won’t be on the market for a number of years, but this is amazing wine with smoke, bacon fat, and lard notes intermixed with blackberry, cassis, lavender, and tobacco leaf. An incredibly expansive mouthfeel and a sensational finish with a velvety texture make for an extraordinary wine-tasting experience. I can hardly wait for this to be released. Exciting wines seem to emerge annually from Pax Mahle, a self-trained winemaker (and all the better for it), and owner Joe Donelan.
