Tasting notes
All Cabernet Franc and aged 20 months in 85% new French oak, the 2022 Rapszodia has a healthy ruby/purple hue as well as a ripe, powerful nose of red and black currants, spring flowers, violets, graphite, and dark chocolate. It's medium to full-bodied, has a pretty, pure, graceful mouthfeel, plenty of mid-palate depth, and ripe, polished tannins. It's going to benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and be a long-lived 2022. Drink 2027-2042.

The 2022 Rapszodia is 100% Cabernet Franc, aged in 85% new French oak (the balance is in second-fill wood). Scents of cedar, tea and black cherries offer ample complexity on the nose, but where this wine really shines is on the palate. Picked September 29, it's medium to full-bodied at 14.3% alcohol, richly concentrated and dense, with a hint of dark chocolate fudge, but it's not cooked or raisiny, just the distilled-down essence of what the Cabernet Franc from this vineyard delivers, finishing silky and elegant, with awesome length.
The 2022 Rhapszodia, 100% Cabernet Franc, is stellar. Explosive in its aromatics and vibrant on the palate, the 2022 shows what was possible in this vintage. I admire the wine’s vertical structure, energy and overall drive. Crushed flowers, mint, rose petal, blood orange and spice all race across the palate. Rhapszodia is one of the clear highlights of this very challenging vintage, proving once again how special Franc is in Napa Valley when planted in the best sites.
