2014 Wind Gap Syrah Sonoma Coast

The 2014 Syrah (Sonoma Coast) is a bit more approachable and fruit-forward than I recall in the past. Sweet red cherry, plum and spice add to the wine's up-front personality. The 2014 offers lovely balance in a forward, pliant Syrah that will drink well early. Silky tannins and bright, floral notes add to the wine's considerable appeal. The addition of fruit from Walker Vine Hill gives the Sonoma Coast Syrah a little more fruitiness and also sets it apart from the other Syrahs in the Wind Gap range, all probably good things for a Syrah meant to be enjoyed young. The 2014 was made from fully destemmed fruit and aged in neutral barrels.
