Tasting notes
This is an Eastside Road hillside site that contributes balanced weight and smooth, seductive texture to this wine. With flavors of red cherry and raspberry, it has texture and complexity, with touches of Asian spice and black tea. — Virginie Boone

The 2016 Pinot Noir Calegari Vineyard is decidedly virile and imposing in feel. Black cherry, plum, smoke, licorice, graphite and dark spices, along with the wine's ample, broad frame all confer a distinct feeling of gravitas. I would give the 2016 a few years in battle. Readers should expect a potent expression of the Russian River. There is plenty of promise here.
About the producer
Williams Selyem is an iconic Russian River Valley winery best known for its Pinot Noir. Producing restrained yet classically Californian expressions of the heartbreak grape (as well as a host of other wines), the property has gone from pioneer to one of the region’s standard-bearers.
