(from 85-year-old vines): Healthy medium red. More closed and less exotic than the Clos de Bèze. Dense, sappy and thick but youthfully tight, with the plum and redcurrant flavors showing much less obvious sweetness than the Clos de Bèze or Cherbaudes. This is more austere, with the serious tannins currently cutting off the fruit. I'd like to see this again in a year or two.

The 2014 Chambertin Grand Cru is not quite as expressive on the nose as the Clos-de-Bèze, but it gradually opens with red cherries mingling with raspberry coulis and fresh fig. The palate is medium-bodied with a saline entry and a fresh line of acidity, gently building in the mouth with a slightly meaty, structured finish. Very fine, though the Clos-de-Beze has the refinement.

2013 was the first vintage. Deep crimson. Quite introvert at this stage. Edgy and savoury. Some green-fern character. Lots of structure. A little severe. (JR)

The 2014 Latricieres Chambertin Grand Cru has a slightly introspective bouquet, dark berry fruit with subtle woodland/sous-bois scents. There is a lovely limestone scent here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a little foursquare with just a touch of austerity towards the finish. I find this to be missing a bit of charm at the moment.
