The 2021 Venus has a youthful ripe yellow hue and opens to notes of wet stone, followed by more serious and refined aromatics of beeswax, golden apple, and hazelnut. Full-bodied and rounded, with a hint of a pithy texture, it has a hint of delicate toast on the long finish. Drink 2024-2034.

The 2021 Venus, Donelan’s Roussanne/Viognier blend, is terrific. Apricot, peach, tangerine oil, spice, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes all meld together. Effortless and creamy, with fine balance, the 2021 is terrific. I would give it a year or two in bottle, as the phenolics are a bit strong at this stage.
