Score 91+/100 · Drink 2016-2024, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2015

One of the more tightly coiled wines in the range, the 2012 Pinot Noir Elliott Vineyard is going to need time to fully emerge, as it is a bit compact at present. The flavors are bright and focused throughout. Hints of cranberry, red cherry, spice and rose petal inform the finish. At this stage, the Elliott is a bit compact, but if it fleshes out, it will merit an even more positive note. There is no shortage of personality here. Elliott is nestled between Hirsch and Hellenthal in one of the most stunningly beautiful parts of the Sonoma Coast. Rocky soils rich in marine sediments confer notable tension and drive. Elliott was planted with Mt. Eden clone Pinot in 1981.

Score 92/100 · Drink 2014-2020, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2014

The 2012 Pinot Noir Elliott Vineyard stands out for its striking aromatics and gorgeous inner perfume, much of which come from the inclusion of 40% whole clusters. Silky, gracious and totally impeccable, the 2012 impresses for its balance. All the elements come together gracefully in a perfumed, mid-weight Pinot to drink now and over the next handful of years. Initially the 2012 is a bit compact, so readers who are going to drink the Elliott young should plan on opening the wine at least an hour in advance. This hillside site sits between Hirsch and Hellenthal, in one of the most strikingly beautiful parts of the Sonoma Coast.
