Tasting notes
The deep purple-hued 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Cru Oakville is another winner and candidate for the top wine under $100 from Napa. Blackcurrants, truffle, loamy earth, and tobacco all define the bouquet, and it’s full-bodied, has good concentration, and a balanced, lengthy, age-worthy vibe on the palate. It has another 15 years of prime drinking. This cuvée comes mostly from the Ashe and Rancho Pequeno Vineyards, with small amounts from other Oakville sites. It spent 18 months in new barrels. 150 cases.

Lavishly fruited, with almost sweet, jammy flavors of black cherries, dried spices and vanilla, Vineyard 29's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Cru includes fruit from 14 vineyards and is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec. Full-bodied and soft, it finishes long, plush and cedary.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Cru St. Helena takes all the signatures of St. Helena and dials up the intensity. Silky tannins wrap around a core of plush red berry fruit, cinnamon and rose petal. The 2019 is a fabulous value in the world of high-end Napa Valley wine.
