Tasting notes
The 2016 Novicium is plush, dark and super-expressive. All the signatures of this site come through in a dark, racy wine that screams with character. There is a real sense of energy and tension. Black cherry, plum, espresso and chocolate add striking layers of nuance. Even with all of its obvious intensity, the 2016 retains terrific freshness. This is a very serious second label from Continuum.

The blue fruit pops out of the glass with so much crushed stone and iron, as well as hints of ink, following through to a full body, firm and juicy tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Pine-needle and conifer undertones. Fantastic. Tight and seamless. Drink in 2022 or onwards.
This is the second label made from younger vines. Blended of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot, the 2016 Novicium is deep garnet-purple colored and delivers vibrant blackberries, black raspberries, wild sage and iron pan notions with a waft of dusty soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has impressive intensity with a solid line of ripe, grainy tannins and lovely freshness, finishing on a mineral note.
