Tasting notes
The second wine of this great estate, the 2022 Novicium is a beautiful effort that shines in the vintage. Aged 22 months in 58% new French oak with 39% neutral French oak and 3% concrete amphora, it's based on 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. Ripe red and black fruits, flowery incense, dried herbs, and some chocolaty nuances all shine here, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a plump, round, mouthfilling texture, ripe and velvety tannins, and a great finish. Drink any time over the coming 10-15 years. Drink 2025-2040.

The 2022 Novicium Sage Mountain Vineyard is packed with dark cherry/plum fruit, mocha, new leather, licorice and cloves. This is an especially bold, juicy vintage for Novicium. It’s a style that works so well.
A blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2022 Novicium is impressively dark-hued in the glass and on the nose, with overtones of cassis and black cherries complemented by hints of dried sage, mint and tobacco. It's medium to full-bodied and silky in feel, with a sense of lightness and freshness that's somewhat surprising in the context of the vintage.
Full bottle 1,459 g. 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot. Matured 21 months in 58% new French oak, 39% neutral French oak, 3% concrete. Deep purple. Bright, fresh floral Cab with lots of violet and tart black fruit on the nose. Incredible concentration and depth of fruit on the palate supported by perfectly balanced oak. Masterfully done. Needs time. (SCJ)
