This displayed enough reduction to push the fruit to the background and it was sufficiently prominent that I decanted it for an hour which turned out to be a good move as eventually the nose opened to reveal beautifully complex and spicy floral, spice and plum aromas. There is excellent verve and gorgeous delineation to the dense yet refined flavors that are supported by impressively fine-grained tannins on the sappy, mouth coating and wonderfully persistent finish. This is quite backwards and even with extended aeration it's clear that this is built-to-age and is going to require it. *Outstanding*

One of the most exotic Pinots in the lineup, the 2013 Pinot Noir Skyline Vineyard has a killer nose of rose garden, wild flowers, strawberries, blueberries and crushed rocks. Medium-bodied, silky, elegant, and beautifully light on its feet and nuanced, it has the vibrant streak of acidity and tension that will keep it drinking nicely for 10-15 years.

The 2013 Pinot Noir Skyline Vineyard is one of the most sensual, layered wines in the range. Nothing at all sticks out. Instead, it is the wine's sublime balance that truly impresses. Sweet and perfumed throughout, with silky tannins and tons of pure grace, the 2013 should afford readers a long and broad drinking window of pure pleasure. The 100% whole clusters are evident but also beautifully woven into the fabric of the wine. (AG)

A deep, dense wine, the 2013 Pinot Noir Skyline Vineyard wraps around the palate with gorgeous fleshiness and pure resonance. Crushed flowers, cinnamon, cloves and new leather all blossom in the glass. Today, the 2013 conveys an impression of real gravitas and depth on its dark red and purplish-toned fruit. Over the last few months the Skyline has begun to shut down quite a bit, which makes it hard to fully appreciate now, but is a very good sign for the future. Readers will have to be patient, though. The 2013 is clearly built for the cellar. This is another wine where the 100% whole clusters are barely noticeable, if at all. Re-tasted: October 2014.
