Score 89/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jun 2013

The 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard is quite pretty and powerful, but also a bit forward, while the 1975 impresses for its pure depth and richness, both remarkable for a wine that is nearly 40 years old!

Last Tasted 12/91 In a blind tasting this wine was, at first, unbelievably bizarre, with an insecticide-like smell. That impression quickly subsided as the big, mint, eucalyptus, and cassis aromas came to the forefront. The color is still deep, with only slight lightening at the edge. In the mouth, the wine is rich and full-bodied, with excellent concentration and balance. This big, textbook Martha's Vineyard Cabernet should continue to drink well for at least another 12-15 years.
