Drinking very well now with lots of dried-strawberry and cherry character, and hints of dusty earth. Full body with good acidity and a lightly chewy finish.
A beautiful effort that certainly competes with the single-vineyard releases, the 2012 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands offers up a gorgeous bouquet of black cherries, black raspberry, wild herbs, rose petal and Asian spice to go with a medium-bodied, layered, balanced and rich palate feel. Rounded, with solid richness and upfront fruit, this knockout Pinot Noir will drink nicely for over a decade. (JD)
Vivid ruby. Powerful aromas of dark berries, potpourri and smoky Moroccan spices. Sweet, fleshy and deeply pitched, offering expansive black raspberry and spicecake flavors and a sexy floral pastille nuance. Silky tannins build slowly on the finish, which lingers with excellent, floral-dominated persistence. Showing a darker character than the Sonoma bottlings but just as much vivacity. (JR)
