Score 88/100 · Drink 2016-2026, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2015
The 2011 Barolo Ravera di Monforte is a dark, brooding wine. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, smoke, menthol, licorice, and cloves form an imposing backdrop. The Ravera will appeal most to readers who like powerful, concentrated Barolos. Although there is plenty of immediacy, the 2011 lacks a bit of persistence on the finish, as well as a level of complexity that might take it up a notch. Over time, the sweetness of the vintage becomes increasingly evident.
