Tasting notes
In great nick. Still as fresh as a daisy but not austere like some Hunter Valley examples yet without a trace of fat More green than beeswax but very much more interesting than most Sauvignon Blancs. (Generalisation alert.) Beautiful balance. It felt as though we were drinking it at its peak. (JR)

The 2006 Semillon “Louis” spent 5 months in French oak. It delivers notes of smoky oak, mineral, citrus, and melon. Smooth-textured, it has intense flavors and a lengthy finish. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. Importer: Negociants USA, Napa, CA; www.henschke.com.au
Silvery straw color. Mineral-driven aromas of lime pith, pear skin and wet stone are deepened by floral honey. Full and round but still tightly wound, with vibrant citrus and pit fruit flavors, zesty acidity and a firm, youthfully bitter, clinging finish that leaves a bitter suggestion of quinine. Like most semillons, this needs some time to stretch out.
