From a 3.03-acre vineyard situated above the Meadowood Resort, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon includes about 10% Cabernet Franc. Made by Aaron Pott, the nose offers wonderfully integrated, pure scents of cherries and suede, with understated hints of cedar. In the mouth, this full-bodied effort is concentrated and velvety, finishing long, with lingering softly dusty tannins.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich, explosive wine that beautifully captures the personality of this hillside St. Helena site. Super-ripe dark cherry fruit, grilled herbs, leather, spice, tobacco and menthol are all vivid in the glass. A healthy touch of Cabernet Franc (10%) give the 2019 added energy and lift. This is another gorgeous Cabernet from winemaker Aaron Pott. Sadly, two of the five blocks on the small property were damaged by fire in 2020, while proprietor Ron Wornick passed away in 2021. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Seven Stones, but my instincts say there will be some changes.
A true superstar in the vintage, the dense plum-hued 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is the usual blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Iron, new leather, tobacco, dried herbs, and assorted dark, chocolaty fruits all emerge from the glass, and this full-bodied beauty has a layered, multi-dimensional texture, perfect balance, and a stacked mid-palate. It's more expansive and opulent than the tighter, more inward 2018, but I suspect it will evolve for just as long. Drink this brilliant 2019 any time over the coming 20-25 years.
