Score 16.5/20 · Drink 2020-2026, Jancis Robinson MW, Mar 2020
67% of the grapes came from Bien Nacido and the remainder from a vineyard just down the road, Westall. Some of the wine was aged in new or one-year-old barrels for 20 months. If anything, this looks more mature than La Bauge 2016. Quite spicy but with more backbone than the Santa Barbara Country bottling. Real grip and charm without excessive sweetness. Long with good savour. So much better value than many a red burgundy! GV (JR)
