Tasting notes
A classic, old-school Barolo, the 2004 La Serra pulses with the energy and tension that are typical of this high altitude site. Pine, menthol, dark cherry and spice are all expressive in the glass. This mid-weight Barolo is starting to show the first signs of tertiary nuance, but it has enough energy to drink well for another decade or so.

La Morra, botti 24 months. Medium, browning ruby. Quite developed and leathery on the nose, with sweet plums. Full, firm and quite spicy, long fresh finish. (JH)
Marcarini's 2004 Barolo La Serra reveals floral aromatics and a candied, spied quality to its red cherry fruit. Made in a linear, focused style, this taut Barolo offers outstanding persistence on the palate and refined ripe tannins. It is a lovely La Serra.
