Score 92/100 · Drink 2024-2037, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Jan 2025
From Krems-Stein in the Kremstal yet marketed under the generic Niederösterreich appellation, the 2008 Ried Steiner Hund Riesling Reserve is deep, clear and fresh on the rather coolish, flinty and saline or iodine nose. Round and dense on the palate, this rich Riesling reveals lots of power, texture and tannins but lacks the airy, filigreed and energetic character that is Riesling's greatest talent. There's too much Smaragd style here for my taste. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Archive Release 2024. Tasted in January 2025.
