Tasting notes
Orange peel, white truffles, smoke, licorice, sweet red cherries in liqueur and spices all lift out of the glass in the 2008 Barolo. An eccentric, old-school Barolo, the 2008 offers lovely complexity and plenty of personality. The tannins are a bit firm, but very much in character. Although quite rustic in style, there is a level of intrigue here that is beguiling. The 2008 reminds me of the super-traditional Barolos I tasted with my father when I was a child.

Just mid ruby with the beginning of orange. Tea leaves and a little bit medicinal. Very compact and brooding aromas. Not the most complex, but with good balance. A little drying on the finish. Long. (WS)
Mid blackish ruby. Pale rim. Muddy nose. Sweet start and without real clarity. Astringent finish. (JR)
