Score 91/100 · Drink 2000-2015, Robert Parker, Dec 2000

The classic 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Hyde Vineyard (1,020 cases) boasts an opaque black/purple color as well as a gorgeously sweet bouquet of cassis, licorice, and toasty new oak. Full-bodied, with gobs of black fruit, plenty of glycerin, and excellent symmetry, this seamless effort has well-integrated acidity, tannin, and alcohol. It should drink well for 15+ years. Tel. Saturated ruby-red color. Slightly hot aromas of blackberry, black cherry and licorice. Firmly structured but rather bound-up, with penetrating dark berry and mint flavors and edgy alcohol. Doesn't yet show much complexity but grew suppler with aeration.
