Tasting notes
The 2015 Coeur a Coeur is a tiny production cuvée based on 50% Semillon and 50% Sauvignon that's a cellar selection of the best barrels in the cellar. Citrus blossom, salty minerality, hints of honeyed lime, and white flowers all emerge from this deep, rich, concentrated, and multi-dimensional wine. With vibrant acidity that makes you salivate, it’s another world-class white from this estate. Located north of Napa Valley, in the Knights Valley AVA of Sonoma, Peter Michael utilizes the incredible talent of Frenchman Nicolas Morlet (whose brother Luc runs Morlet Estate in Napa, and was previously the winemaker at Peter Michael). These classic, traditionally made wines certainly have an old world feel/style, yet never lose their California soul. They produce two brilliant Bordeaux Blanc look-alikes, a bevy of Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs, and three Bordeaux blends. It can be a complex lineup to wrap your head around, but the cuvees show singular characters and the quality is off the charts.

The 2015 Coeur à Coeur, Peter Michael’s Sauvignon/Sémillon blend, captures the generosity of the year. A rush of orchard fruit, chamomile, marzipan and lightly honeyed notes resonate in a creamy, voluptuous white that has the structure and persistence to pair beautifully with a wide range of foods at the dinner table. In other words, this is a very serious white wine. I really like the way the 2015 fleshes out with time in the glass.
