Tasting notes
The 2019 Pinot Noir Summa Vineyard is a classic wine from this vineyard, showing the slightly more supple, rounded, seamless style of the vintage nicely. Giving up lots of redcurrants, ripe cherries, and mulberry-like fruit as well as plenty of crushed stone-like minerality and floral hints, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a round, supple texture, no hard edges, and supple, soft tannins that emerge on the finish. It’s just a beautifully complete, complex, satisfying Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast to enjoy over the coming decade.

The 2019 Pinot Noir Summa Vineyard is the most open-knit and inviting of the wines today. Creamy, ample and so expressive, the 2019 has a lot to offer. Soft contours and striking mid-palate presence add immediacy, but the 2019 has plenty of the energy that runs through all these wines. The 50% new oak works beautifully here. I would not be in a rush to open any of the 2019 Pinots, but I would probably open the Summa first.
