The 2006 Vin Jaune I tasted is a 'domaine' wine that was aged for over eight years under a veil of yeasts in barrels that were not topped up. According to the back label, the grapes are sourced from vines planted in blue marl soils, the ones considered to lend more minerality and length to Savagnin. There are some diesel-like aromas here, nicely intermixed with the telltale morel, curry and rancid nut aromas from the yellow wines. Great yellow wine.
