Tasting notes
The dark ruby/purple-colored 2003 Pinot Noir Le Moulin Rouge offers a gorgeous perfume of forest floor, creme de cassis, blackberries, and plums. Full-bodied with lovely purity, good underlying acidity, and a distinctive floral/forest floor character reminiscent of some Domaine de la Romanee-Conti grand crus, it will drink well for 7-8 years. Good medium ruby. Sappy aromas of raspberry, strawberry, black cherry, black tea, rose petal and graphite, complicated by mint and tarry oak. Superconcentrated, creamy and sweet, with superb depth of crushed berry flavor. Finishes with substantial, broad tannins and terrific persistence. This remained on its lees without being racked until it was assembled for the bottling, which took place without fining or filtration in January of 2005.
