Tasting notes
The 2010 Collina della Valle is a beautiful example of this great hillside Oakville estate. Sweet, layered and impeccable, the 2010 Collina dalla Valle blossoms in the glass with gorgeous depth and layers of deely spiced dark red fruit. Rose petals, cinnamon and a hint of iron linger on the polished finish. There aren't too many Napa Valley second wines that deliver so much pure personality and class. This is without question one of the best wines in its price range. Readers who can find the 2010 should not hesitate, it is fabulous. The 2010 is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, most from young vines. This is a perfect example of what a second wine should be. All the elements of the estate are in the glass, but in miniature.

About the producer

Dalla Valle Vineyards was founded in 1986 by Naoko and her late husband Gustav Dalla Valle, in Oakville. Initially they had wanted to create a luxury resort, but when they discovered the potential of the site, they changed tack and decided to make wine.
