Score 93/100 · Drink 2023-2038, Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous, Nov 2021
The 2018 Cabernet Franc Viña Cobos Chañares was aged for 18 months in 54% new barrels. Garnet red with a violet sheen, the nose offers herbs, blackberry, amaretti and a little ash with secondary aromas of pyrazines and balsam. This is a pure wine in which the terse feel is almost chalky, and the finely grained tannins merge with the freshness to up the energy. An accomplished red that will grow more profound with time.
