Tasting notes
I don't think the 2014 Fortification hits the heights of the 2012 and 2013, but don't let that deter you. This is an incredibly complete, nuanced, complex vintage Port look-alike that does everything right. Spiced plums, redcurrants, sandalwood, smoked tobacco, chocolate, and leather all define its incredibly complex bouquet, and it's full-bodied, with a layered, pure, plush mouthfeel, soft tannins, and a gorgeous finish. I don't think it's going to be the longest lived in the lineup, but if 40 years of prime drinking is a letdown for you, I don't know what to tell you.
