Tasting notes
The flamboyant, exotic 2001 Pinot Noir Blue Slide Ridge boasts an open-knit bouquet of black raspberry liqueur intermixed with blueberries, flint, and lilacs. Dense, rich, and medium to full-bodied, it is an intellectual as well as hedonistic turn-on. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Tel. (707) 525-0570; Fax (707) 525-0570

Good deep red. Reticent, rather Burgundian nose suggests strawberry, currant and loam. Supple and silky on the palate; the most layered and complex of these 2001 pinots. Less floral and primary than the 2000, but very sophisticated.
About the producer

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
