2017 Pinot Noir Blue Slide Ridge

Tasting notes
The 2017 Pinot Noir Blue Slide Ridge is the most powerful of the four Sonoma Coast Pinots I tasted at Martinelli. Dark red/purplish berry fruit, lavender, rose petal, menthol and spice all infuse this textured, resonant Pinot Noir. Plump, juicy and forward, the 2017 will drink well with minimal cellaring. I especially like the feeling of power without excess weight.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Blue Slide Ridge has a pale to medium ruby-purple color and aromas of blueberry preserves, cranberry sauce, warm black cherries and berries, orange peel and dusty earth with violet hints. Wonderfully concentrated in the mouth with spiced fruits, despite its only light to medium weight, it's framed by very fine, grainy tannins and juicy acidity, with a long, layered finish. 207 cases were made.

About the producer

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
