Tasting notes
Score 91/100 · Drink 2007-2020, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Oct 2007

The 2005 GSM “Bin 138” was aged entirely in old oak. Purple-colored with an unmistakable Rhone-like perfume of garrigue, kirsch, and black raspberry, this tasty blend is full-bodied, round, and ripe. It offers considerable subtle complexity, has enough structure to develop for several years, and should drink well through 2020. Penfolds, arguably Australia’s most famous winery, continues to perform at a high level under the leadership of Head Winemaker, Peter Gago. Importer: Southcorp Wines USA; www.penfolds.com.au Also tasted: 2006 Chardonnay “Thomas Hyland” (84), 2004 Shiraz “Bin 128” Coonawarra (84)
