Score 96/100 · Drink 2025-2035, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Oct 2023
The 2021 Pinot Noir Freestone Estate Proem #2 comes from Calera and Swan selection vines in a single block of Phelps's Pastorale vineyard in western Sonoma County. It was vinified with 50% whole clusters and matured for 15 months in 50% new French oak. It has a deep core of cranberry and rhubarb with accents of charcuterie, woodsmoke, black tea leaves and garrigue. The palate is weightless and silky yet offers highly concentrated, perfumed flavors, and it has a very long, floral finish. 418 cases were made.
