Tasting notes
Medium ruby with a garnet rim. Ripe black plum and dried black cherries, savoury, crackly dried leaves and green peppercorn. Tannin is fine and rounded and it has enough freshness to keep it from feeling heavy. (SCJ)

The 2019 Solari is powerful and intensely savory in the glass. Dark and explosive, the 2019 is packed with wild cherry, cedar, leather, tobacco, menthol and incense. There's a ton of depth, but the 2019 has never lost the slightly awkward character it showed from bottle. Time brings out the strong savory, earthy inflections that are typical of Larkmead. This is an especially somber wine.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Solari is a step down over past vintages, yet it still has a full-bodied, rich, impressive style, although it’s surprisingly evolved, with a lighter rim and more savory aromatics. Dark currants, chocolate, smoke tobacco, and dried herbs define the bouquet, and it’s full-bodied, has ripe tannins, and a great finish. Drink bottles over the coming two decades.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Solari is a deep, powerful wine. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2019 is not going to be ready to show all its cards for a number of years. Today it is potent, deep and intensely savory. Dried herbs, licorice, spice and mocha open over time, but the 2019 is not fully expressive today. My impression is that the 2019 has closed down pretty significantly post-bottling.
