2014 Bohan Vineyard Pinot Noir

A big, intense wine, the 2014 Pinot Noir Bohan Vineyard packs a serious punch. The flavors are dark, bold and incisive. Black cherry, plum, dark spices and leather add nuance in the glass. This is another rich, powerful Pinot Noir from Jamie Kutch. Over the last year, the wine's ripeness has taken on a greater role in the wine's personality. The Bohan emerges from a dry-farmed, own-rooted vine on the true edge of the Sonoma Coast. The 2014 is intriguing, but also points to a wine that is a work in progress. In retrospect, this fruit may have been picked a bit later than optimal.

Kutch's 2014 Pinot Noir Bohan Vineyard bursts from the glass with intense dark red and purplish fruit. This site seems to give Pinots with broad-structured frames, so picking a little riper, as Kutch did here, seems to be the right choice. The creamy, textured finish is simply impossible to resist. The 2014 has great depth.
