Tasting notes
The 2022 Chardonnay Laguna Ridge Vineyard's singularity is immediately clear. Over several minutes in the glass, its spicy perfume blooms: white peaches, lemongrass and lilac are complemented by white pepper and exotic, spicy undertones. The palate delivers satiny layers of ripe citrus, honey and spice, foiled by fireworks of fresh acidity. Despite the challenges of the vintage, the Laguna Ridge (bottled only in magnums) has what it needs for a long life in the cellar.

Only bottled in magnums, the 2022 Chardonnay Laguna Ridge Vineyard comes from just south of Trenton. It pours a golden yellow hue and delivers notes of white pepper, bright citrus zest, resinous, and white peach. Mouthwatering upfront, it’s medium-bodied and floats on the palate with great ease and finesse, with a savory side of toasted incense on the finish. This needs time, which is why Kistler decided to only produce the large format bottles, and it’s going to do well over the next 15 years. It has the lowest pH of any of their wines, but this delicious Chardonnay pulls it off with ease and never feels austere. 2925 bottles produced.
About the producer

Kistler’s Chardonnays are some of the world’s most sought-after. This cult Californian producer crafts small volumes of exceptional, rich and generous, yet mineral and precise wines. With almost the entire production sold directly to their mailing list, the wines are also incredibly hard to find.
