Tasting notes
Layers of different character here with hints of rose petals, dark berries, sage and tile. Full body, fine tannins and a savory finish. Try after 2021, but already delicious.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Tierra Roja Vineyard comes from a 4-acre site in Oakville and has remarkable purity and elegance as well as exotic notes of plums, blueberries, violets, sagebrush, and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, savory, layered, and nicely textured, it’s a beautifully complete Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that will drink well for 15-20 years or more.
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Tierra Roja Vineyard is dark, sumptuous and nuanced. Dark cherry, iron smoke, menthol and crushed flowers give the 2016 layers of perfume to play off the rich mid-palate. The 2016 is a terrific example of the resonant style of Cabernet Sauvignon that comes so easily in Oakville's Eastern Hills. (AG)
Drive the Oakville Cross Road to the Silverado Trail, then look directly forward and up and you see Tierra Roja, a small four-acre hillside vineyard. The vineyard is dotted with big rocks, and the soil is roja (very red). The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Tierra Roja Vineyard is deep garnet-purple in color, with aromas of violets, cassis, wild blueberries, black cherries, dark chocolate and menthol. The palate is full-bodied, concentrated and packed with layers, with firm, grainy tannins and a long spicy finish. 148 cases produced.
