The 2017 Pinot Noir Katherine Lindsay Estate Cuvée Agustina is a bit darker and richer than the straight Katherine Lindsay bottling. Lavender, sage, mint, and blue/purplish fruit meld together. Layered and sensual in the glass, with terrific depth, the 2017 is super-expressive, even in the early going. The Cuvée really broadens out nicely on the finish. It is an exotic and wonderfully beguiling Pinot to enjoy over the next decade.

Pale to medium ruby-purple and slow to unfold, the 2017 Pinot Noir Cuvée Agustina Katherine Lindsay Estate slowly gives up fresh blueberries, rooibos tea leaves, pipe tobacco, dried rose petals and blood orange peel plus notes of dried herbs over oodles of red and black berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and a touch broody before blossoming out to perfumed notes. It has bright, juicy acidity and a grainy frame, finishing long and earthy. 248 cases were made.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Cuvée Agustina Katherine Lindsay Estate is more powerful and explosive than the straight Katherine Lindsay Estate Pinot, but the wines are not that different from each other. It will be interesting to see how the two wines develop over time. There is certainly no shortage of richness or intensity here.

Aromas of raw meat, dark berries and hints of mushrooms and flowers. Full-bodied, dense and layered with wonderful length and beauty. Hint of sea salt. Flavorful and very long. Drink or hold.
