Score 86/100 · Drink 2006, Robert Parker, Jan 2000
The 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon S.L.V. reveals a moderately pigmented ruby color, as well as a sweet black currant and cherry-scented nose with vanillin and spice in the background. This compressed (because of the wine's aggressive acidity), medium-bodied, narrowly constructed Cabernet is cleanly made and elegant, but lacks depth, richness, and staying power. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Tel. (707) 944-2020; Fax (707) 257-7501

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars
Warren Winiarski founded Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars in 1970 when he purchased the Stag’s Leap Vineyard in Napa’s Stags Leap District. The 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon – only the second vintage – won the famous 1976 Judgement of Paris blind tasting, rocketing the estate to fame.
