Tasting Notes
From a densely planted (2,044 vines per acre with spacing of 3.5 feet x six feet) property adjacent to the Lauren site, Aubert's 2022 Chardonnay Park Avenue offers up gentle notes of toasted hazelnut, brioche and almond, plus lime, pear and melon. It's full-bodied, with waves of upfront fruit and generous on the mid-palate, then crisp and focused on the lingering finish.

Aromas of gunpowder, grated lemon rind, lemon curd, hazelnut butter, salted butter and flint. So complex. Medium- to full-bodied. Deep and thoughtful, with such intellectual and visceral pleasure. Wow. Montrachet clone. Drink this whenever your can. But it will age for decades.
The 2022 Chardonnay Park Avenue is laced with hints of orange confit, passion fruit and jasmine. This is one of the more exotic Chardonnays in the range, especially aromatically. The 2022 is a bit less generous on the palate, but that should come with time.
The 2022 Park Avenue Chardonnay, tasted as a barrel sample, wows as it wafts out with a gorgeous perfume of citron blossoms, yuzu, spiced apples, and ripe apricots, opening out to touches of nutmeg, almond croissant, and Earl Grey tea. The full-bodied palate explodes with citrus and spice fireworks, framed by a satiny texture and a racy line, finishing long and savory. Aubert bought this vineyard in 2013. It’s located right in between the Lauren and CIX vineyards. A neighbor who owned these 12 acres next to Lauren, previously planted with apples, passed away. There is a long road leading up to the vineyard, hence the name Park Avenue. This is mainly Hyde Clone with a little bit of Montrachet on 101-14 and 420A rootstocks.
About the producer

The Aubert wines, particularly the Chardonnay, have a cult following – beloved for their rich, hedonistic style. Created by Mark and Theresa Aubert in 1999, the property makes some of California’s most sought-after Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, all from single vineyards across Sonoma.
