The 1964 Beaune Clos de la Mousse 1er Cru cannot compete with the fabulous L'Enfant Jesus that year, but do not dismiss this wonderful wine. Exquisite nose with refined red fruit tinged with inkwell and potpourri, you have to applaud its delineation. The palate blossoms in the glass like the nose, the red fruit laced with candied orange peel, pure and refined on the finish. It delivers that intangible attribute of "transparency." Lovely. Tasted at the "Four" dinner at Bouchard Père in Beaune.
