The 2021 Corton Grand Cru shows some underripeness on the nose, with scents of tomato vine intertwined with airy red fruit. This actually coheres and reveals hidden depths when returning to the glass after 10 minutes. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded, more polished tannins than its peers. Fashioned in a more modern, quite seductive style, this is not a purist's or traditionalist's Corton, though that does not preclude it from being well made and appealing to the senses. Just don't approach it seeking intellect. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

For the first time, the 2021 Corton Grand Cru is co-fermented with the Corton-Bressandes due to frost damage. It has a well-defined nose with pure red fruit, touches of sous-bois and wet limestone. Very elegant. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chalky tannins. A soupçon of orange rind filters through the red fruit with a fine, sour cherry and white pepper-tinged finish. Very fine.
