Full bottle 1,556 g. Clear-glass bottle. Smells of Turkish delight. Although this cuvée is quite a bit more expensive, I found the Les Clans to be far more interesting. Garrus tastes surprisingly sweet – I wonder what the residual sugar is? or perhaps it’s just ripeness of fruit. Turkish delight on the palate as well as the nose. Cherry liquorice. I find it interesting that (to me, at least) this 2023 Garrus tastes less serious than the 2024 Les Clans (which is outstanding, and to my mind the better buy). (TC)

The 2023 Cotes de Provence Rose Garrus is a true success, offering an alluring bouquet of pomegranate, spices, ripe orchard fruits and red berries, delicately framed by subtle oaky nuances. Medium- to full-bodied, sappy and ample, it is layered and textural, with a tactile core of fruit and a touch of freshness that lifts the finish. This is a structured, sophisticated rosé that can age gracefully, promising to reveal further complexity over the next 4–5 years.

Full bottle a massive 1,559 g – apparently lighter than it used to be but it really is unnecessarily heavy and, like its stablemate Ch d'Esclans, the bottle is too wide to put in a wine rack. Very inconvenient for a wine that seems made to age! This is the famously expensive rosé, though I think Gérard Bertrand may have trumped the price? Pale salmon. This has a pretty, interesting nose with a hint of honeysuckle and well-integrated acidity. Herbal note and (just) enough freshness. I could imagine enjoying this with food, even if finding it a tad too heavy (the wine as well as the bottle) as an aperitif. Some persistence. Well done! (JR)
