Tasting notes
The 2023 Gigondas Tradition is based on 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah aged in cement tanks. Darker, more meaty, pepper, and garrigue-driven aromatics give way to a medium to full-bodied wine with a core of darker cherry and blackberry fruits intermixed with mineral nuances. It has ripe tannins and a great finish. It's a much more classically styled Gigondas to drink over the coming 15 years or more. Drink 2026-2041.

The 2023 Gigondas La Cuvée Tradition is a little muted at first. Time in the glass gradually brings out ripe red fruits, peppery elements and fleshy subtleties. Full-bodied and polished, the 2023 is a classy La Cuvée Tradition with vivid intensity and spot-on freshness throughout.
A blend of 80% Grenache Noir, 10% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, the 2023 Gigondas Tradition opens with aromas of iris, peonies, Timut pepper and dark wild berries. Medium- to full-bodied, enveloping and seamless, it’s finely layered with good depth at the core, concluding with a long, refined and spicy finish. This is a strong effort and one of the sleepers of the vintage.
80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah. Whole-bunch fermentation. Aged in concrete tanks. Certified organic (AB Agriculture Biologique). Tank sample. Tasted blind. A beautiful nose with bright red fruits. There is so much energy and purity through this wine. Superbly managed tannins give precision and structure with a sense of freshness that drives the palate, which has plenty of concentrated red fruits. Elegant, balanced and refined. (AC)
