Au Bon Climat started making Nuits-Blanches in 1996. Picked later, sorted more, and the wine was kept in barrel longer than any other Au Bon Climat Chardonnay. Aged 18 months in new François Frères barrels, and bottled with no filtering . Rich, spicy and golden with a toasty/spicy depth and lots of ripe fruit flavours – apricot, citrus, as well as hazelnuts and a touch of vanilla. Really toasty on the palate. Mouth-filling, a touch of struck-match, full of fruit and oak spice. A big, generous but balanced wine with a hint of butterscotch on the finish. (JH)

Opening with touches of flint, toast and exotic spices over a core of baked apples and floral perfume, the 2017 Chardonnay Nuits-Blanches au Bouge is medium-bodied and silky. It bursts with savory flavors, enlivened by energetic acidity and mineral touches, and it finishes very long. What a lovely dichotomy of rich aromas and flavors with a bright, lively structure. 600 cases produced.
The 2017 Chardonnay Nuits-Blanches au Bouge is absolutely stunning. Rich, deep and yet also wonderfully translucent, the 2017 captures the Au Bon Climat style at its very best. Apricot, orange, mint, butter, a touch of new oak and tropical accents are some of the many notes that develop. In the glass, the 2017 is so complex and multidimensional. The Nuits-Blanches au Bouge is a blend of fruit taken from the K Block at Bien Nacido and Au Bon Climate's Le Bon Climat vineyard. What a wine!
