Tasting notes
The 2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune Aux Vergelesses 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet with sea spray, white flowers and shucked oyster shells. The palate has commendable weight and cohesion with light brushes of fresh quince towards the finish. Juxtaposed against the Monthélie, though, it does not quite have the same degree of sophistication. Nevertheless, it remains a mighty fine Savigny.

The 2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Vergelesses is one of the ampler, fleshier wines in the range, revealing aromas of pear, confit citrus, white flowers and freshly baked bread. Medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, it's pure and glossy, with a charming, sensual profile.
Pale with a faint green streak. There is a herbal aspect to the nose giving a light reductive note on top of clean white fruit. Well defined stony notes on the palate, a very light citrus, and a long clean finish.
The 2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune Aux Vergelesses 1er Cru comes from a 0.58ha parcel planted in 1989 and 1999. It has a pixelated bouquet with white peach, light lemon zest aromas and a touch of oyster shell. The palate is well balanced with impressive weight and concentration. Dried honey and quince notes appear with some mineralité tucked in just underneath. This is the dark horse of the range - don't ignore this.
