The 2019 Lestage-Simon has a composed bouquet of blackberry, tertiary and pencil box aromas that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied and ripe, with juicy tannins and good weight. Fleshy and yet at the same time, quite tender on the finish. This is a well-made Haut-Médoc.
The 2019 Lestage-Simon is fabulous. A rush of dark red/black fruit, gravel, scorched earth, incense, leather and spice gives the 2019 its exuberant personality. All the elements are so nicely balanced in this racy, plush Haut-Médoc. Lestage-Simon is a major sleeper.
Aromas of fresh blueberries, olive stones and oyster shells. Some vanilla, too. Medium-bodied with fine, well-integrated tannins and a supple palate. Better from 2023.
