Tasting notes
The 2015 Champagne La Remissonne Extra Brut and the Le Leon are both are 100% barrel fermented from a single plot, the La Remissonne in Aÿ, with a southwest facing slightly cooler exposition and more clay in the soils. The nose is even more potent and concentrated with aromas of kirsch, blackberries, violets, spice box, and layered notes of custard. It’s all about its blackberry fruit on the palate, which is so attractive and assertiv,e but it remains very pure. The wine has a full-bodied feel, and a pillowing and inviting mousse, a chalky, lightly pithy texture, and a long finish. I love this wine, which is so emblematic of its black fruit that sings all the way through. Very well done. Drink 2025-2045.
