Tasting notes
The jewel in the crown at Drouhin, from five different blocks across the vineyard, this is remarkable Chardonnay that is evidence, if it were needed, for why Montrachet is regarded as the pinnacle for this grape. The wine offers an effortless balance of power and silk, vibrancy and intensity, with hints of its many layers of flavour – the juicy peach and citrus, nutty richness, honeyed sweetness and creamy complexity, as well as a backbone of minerality. Extraordinary stuff.

Double magnum served at Caractère by Véronique Drouhin. A bit too closed and muted to judge in more detail now. (JR)
An unusually bright, light-gold color with hints of green in it distinguish this rare wine from the first glance before rich, layered and complex aromas lead to even richer poached pears, hazelnuts and cream on the palate. Full-bodied but light on its feet, the wine shows deft balance, great depth and incredible length on the finish. Best from 2028.
