Tasting notes
The outstanding 2015 Saint Joseph comes from a handful of granite vineyards and was completely destemmed and spent a year in barrel. It has old-school notes of pepper, leafy herbs, plums, olives and game. With medium-bodied richness, an elegant, seamless profile, and moderate concentration, drink it over the coming 7-8 years. This family-run estate covers 4.7 hectares in Condrieu, just under 5 hectares in Saint Joseph and 3.9 hectare in Côte Rôtie. Both the 2015s and 2016s are beautiful wines.

Bright violet. Aromas of cherry, cassis and peppery spices are sharpened by a zesty mineral nuance. Juicy and focused on the palate, showing good depth to the smoke-accented dark fruit and violet pastille flavors. Harmonious tannins shape the nicely persistent finish, which features a touch of cracked pepper and lingering smokiness.
Notes of incense, flowers, graphite and menthol all emerge from the 2015 Saint Joseph. This medium to full-bodied 2015 has stunning purity and elegance, nicely integrated acidity, and will cruise in the cellar for over a decade.
Cask sample. Tasted blind. Very savoury nose. No excess sweetness and real savour. Very ambitious and minerally. Great energy. (JR)
