Very dark, impenetrable ruby. Brooding nose with Mediterranean herbs and ripe cherry. Intriguing on the palate, too, with black cherry fruit and plenty of fresh acidity. Quite a bit of chewy tannins on the finish. Classy, sweet ripe fruit, and a very good effort that, nevertheless, demands fine tuning. (WS)

The 2015 Sicilia Saia is a dark, plump and exuberant expression of Sicily's mighty Nero d'Avola grape. The wine offers a distinctive bouquet with dark cherry, wild fennel and toasted pistachio nut. This is a soft and nicely concentrated expression with a long delivery of ripe fruit to keep your attention. Drink this wine over the next 5 years.
